When did this Happen?
The Khmer Rouge came to power in the year 1975 after they took control of the capital Phnom Penh. They created their own communist government, and started to change things immediately. They wanted to change Cambodia into a simple farming society. They hated the idea of them being advanced in all aspects of life. They evacuated the cities, and ended up killing almost 25% of the total population. Their power came to an end in 1979 when the Vietnamese over threw them. (Nou)
