Cambodia is located in southern Asia and boarders Vietnam, Laos, ans Thailand. The genocide started in 1975, lasted until 1979, and killed between 1.5 million to 3 million people. Educated people were targeted by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge and killed along with foreigners and people that could be a threat to what wanted to be accomplished. Under Pol Pot's leadership of the Khmer Rouge, their goal was to de-westernize Cambodia in fear that it was developing too quickly.
